Iron Maiden has released some old vintage footage of the band ranging from the 70's to the 80's with Nicko...2 disc set.

As an old Iron Head, I love it...esp. for the cheap price. Some great old concerts on this tihng, with Clive Burr and Nicko. We could debate Clive v. Nicko all day...at least, I COULD.

Cuz, I'm a Wrathchild. I love metal from this era...just killin. Again, maybe Ashlee Simpson won and the old guys should be turned into Soylent Green...but those are REAL drums played by REAL drummers.

I used to play with some other guys in HS who also liked prog stuff, it WAS popular back then...and we tried on Losfer Words from Powerslave at my suggestion...

It perplexed the bass player to NO END...he couldn't get Steve 'arris's sound and technique at all and this guy was a killer bass player...the guitarist was a Steve Howe/Lifeson fanatic and looked down his nose at Maiden until we tried to play that tune...

Now for me being able to play 6/8 at that speed...

Maiden head here. That stuff looks interesting. I might have somewhere a video of the 1st Maiden tour with Paul Dianno and Clive Burr. I remember there were lots of little devils running everywhere on stage with forks.

These are my teenage roots. I dug Clive on the first 3 LPs and was skeptical when they change drummers. But when I heard that intro fill on "Where eagles dare", I was sold to Nicko. Each were nevertheless great on their respective discs. I played to those records countless times. They were fast single kickers, and they might the reason why I'm also fast on single kick and never really focused on the double. My first band played some Maiden. I saw the Piece of mind and Powerslave tours and still got my jersey. I also have the collector's edition CDs which have a bonus CD with rare stuff up to Powerslave. I never heard anything of them after that album. There's been an overnight cut, when I switched to prog. Funny, I recently gigged with a band that plays some 80s metal. It had been a long time, but I played "The Trooper" and "2 Minutes to Midnight" from muscle memory; those tunes are burned somewhere in me; I had a ball!

Ok, that's it. Let's get back to SERIOUS music...

P.S.: Dunno if this is a legend, but I always heard/thought that Clive and Nicko switched bands back in the days. Clive went in Nicko's previous band and vice versa...
